Saturday Salt Spring Island Market

The Saturday Salt Spring Island Market is unique and fun. Everything sold at the market has to be either made, or grown on Salt Spring.

We leave Sidney at 11:00 am on Saturdays and arrive at Ganges around noon. After 2 to 3 hours on Salt Spring we head back a different route passing by Galiano, Mayne, Saturna and the Pender Islands; sometimes also Sidney Island. Round trip is 4 to 5 hours.

Some of the many good reasons to enjoy the friendly inviting “granola” atmosphere of Salt Spring are:

• Fresh fruits and vegetables locally grown organically on Salt Spring
• famous Salt Spring Island cheeses
• homemade pies and baked goodies
• handmade crafts, jewellery, ceramics and pottery
• natural body care products including handmade soaps
• clothing & textiles – famous Tie Dye
• local art and photography
• farmers / growers also offering eggs, fish, lamb
• a scenic boat trip in the Gulf Islands – occasionally we see whales along our trip

There are numerous excellent restaurants in Ganges. Our favourite two with oceanfront outdoor seating are the Tree House Cafe and the Oyster Catcher.

Unique clothing shops make for a fun destination shopping experience, and the multi-level old style Mouat’s hardware store is also fun to explore.
